Premiere v26 - Some MOGRTs faulty, but work fine if imported as .aegraphic

Premiere Pro v26.3
Apple M4 Pro
MacOS Tahoe
BBC corporate environment - This requires a fix before BBC can move en masse from v25 to v26.

Legacy AE-authored MOGRTs that have worked for years on both Windows and macOS are rendering incorrectly in Premiere Pro 26.3 on macOS. The same MOGRTs continue to work correctly on Windows. This has been tested across several Macs and the same issue is found on all of them.

If the generated .aegraphic is revealed in Finder and imported directly into Premiere, the graphic renders correctly (but of course the fields are not editable). MOGRT should render identically to the underlying .aegraphic but does not.

MOGRT displays incorrect imagery. One template displays colour bars where background imagery should appear. Another template displays a solid colour matching a Fill-effect colour elsewhere in the composition (see screenshot below).

Tested and ruled out:

- Background MOV asset

- File path length

- Filename length

- MOGRT export method (Library and local)

- Luma Matte and Luma Matte Inverted in isolation

- Fill effects in isolation

- Tritone effects in isolation

Observations:

- AE project renders correctly in After Effects.

- .aegraphic renders correctly in Premiere.

- MOGRT renders incorrectly in Premiere (macOS).

- Same MOGRT renders correctly in Premiere on Windows.

- Failure potentially linked to complex precomp/expression-driven branding elements controlled through Essential Graphics menus.

I can supply an affected MOGRT to Adobe engineers if that will help with testing.

Screenshots below show the fauly version vs the .aegraphic.

    Hi @Paul231013361h3m

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums and including all those details and the screenshots, that’s very helpful. I see you’re working in Premiere v26.3 on both Mac and Windows and having issues with those MOGRTs on macOS.

Wanted to confirm what is the driver version and build for Windows (Win11, correct?) as well since you mention it is working properly on those.

It seems that the issue started in v26.3. Was v25.6.6 the last working version of Premiere these worked on both Mac and Windows?

I will DM you a link to our Dropbox for uploading the MOGRT(s), any required font, and even a simplified project if you’d like, for our team to further troubleshoot.

Sorry for any frustrations, and hope to help!

@Paul231013361h3m Thank you so much for sending those files. Wanted to update you that we’re seeing exactly what you said on our testing and were easily able to recreate that, including not only with the m4 Mac but on our other Macs as well. Both in Premiere v26.3 and Premiere’s latest updated 26.5 Beta, both are showing the same issue.

I’ll be filing a bug report on this one. Once they provide an update, I’ll return and let you know when there’s a fix and/or what’s happening.

Really appreciate your thorough explanations and time spent on helping report this bug, as it’ll help others as well, but also sorry for any troubles it’s caused you and your team.
