Regression: Object Mask hangs after the first mask in Premiere 26.5.1

Environment

Adobe Premiere Pro 26.5.1, build 1, running on macOS.

Regression summary

Object Mask was working before the application update. In 26.5.1, Premiere successfully generates one mask, but any following use of Object Mask causes an endless macOS spinning wait cursor. The operation never finishes and the masking workflow cannot continue.

Reproduction procedure

Step 1: Launch Premiere Pro 26.5.1 and open a project containing video footage.

Step 2: Select a clip in the timeline and activate Object Mask.

Step 3: Select an object and generate the first mask. This completes normally.

Step 4: Attempt to generate or process a further Object Mask.

Step 5: Observe that Premiere becomes stuck displaying the spinning wait cursor indefinitely.

Expected behavior

Premiere should allow multiple object masks to be generated and processed in the same editing session.

Observed behavior

Only the first mask succeeds. Further masking attempts never complete.

The same masking workflow and system worked before the update, making this a reproducible 26.5.1 regression.

Following. I have the same issue on 26.5.1 Only solution seems to be to close the app and restart it after every mask. very frustrating.

This is my setup. As I was saying, I haven't been able to create a mask since I installed the latest update.

Hi @fashionable_interestad12 Thanks for reporting the issue.

I tried the same workflow but not able to reproduce the issue at my end. I need some more details around the issue. Can you confirm your machine and OS details ?

Issue

After updating Premiere Pro, the Object Mask tool works only once. I can create the first object mask normally, but when I try to create or process another mask, Premiere shows the spinning wait cursor and remains stuck indefinitely.

Steps to reproduce

Step 1: Open a project and select a video clip.

Step 2: Select the Object Mask tool.

Step 3: Create an object mask; the first mask is created successfully.

Step 4: Try to create or process another Object Mask.

Step 5: Premiere displays the spinning wait cursor and never completes the operation.

Expected result

Object masks can be created and processed repeatedly without the application hanging.

Actual result

The first mask works, but subsequent Object Mask operations hang indefinitely.

This workflow worked correctly on the same system before updating Premiere. The problem began after the update to 26.5.1, so this appears to be a regression.
