Scanning Closed Captions EXTREMELY slow when importing multiple MXF files

When importing one MXF from a network drive with the "include captions on import" setting on, Premiere imports the file, scans the CC and then generates the .PEK audio reference. During the CC scanning, PPRO is transferring around 500+ Mb/s from the drive to the computer. It is slightly higher when it does the audio scan. However, when I select more that one file to import (with the same settings), PPRO shows the import to the bin, and begins the "Scanning Closed Captions for xxxxfilenamexxx" progress bar. This time though, it is extremely slow. Progress almost grinds to a standstill. Data transfer rates slow to only about 130Mb/s and there are no other increased system resources being utilized. For the same length program, it takes approximately 8x to 10x longer to import one show. 

Yes, you are correct. I could do just one at a time as a workaround. But why?

Fortunately, I do not have to use this multiple file function often (single files, yes), but in this case, what was supposed to be a fairly quick and easy batch conform, is now going to take days longer. 

To avoid the questions:

- No, this is not a network or a drive bandwidth problem. With direct file transfer I am approaching the gigabit limit on the drives.

- Yes, I tried a single file and combinations of two, three, four and all. More than one file causes the issue.
