scrubbing causes premiere to crash

Issue – scrubbing causes premiere to crash (maybe just when waveforms are displayed).

Steps to reproduce – with waveforms displayed use the mouse to scrub a timeline

Expected result – curser follows mouse movement

Actual result – crash

Adobe Premiere Pro version – 25.5.0

Operating system – Mac OS 14.7.4

GPU driver - Apple M1 Max

Video format – Prores LT (3996x2160)

Does it affect all projects or only some projects? - all projects

Does it affect new projects? yes

When did the problem begin? After update to 25.5 - I did a clean install of all CC apps, reset prefs, deleted media caches

Yes, it happens in new projects. Also, not just while scrubbing but also when using the roll edit tool. It doesn't happen eveytime so I cannot pin point what circumstances are leading to crashes but they are happening frequently

Hi @Kyle Kramb

Thank you for reporting a problem and sorry you're experiencing issues. If you are getting a Crash Report dialog box, make sure to add your email in when prompted.

Do you suspect this is due to audio waveforms? If you go to the little wrench icon on the Timeline panel and deselect 'Show Audio Waveform', does the issue resolve? Are you able to do any playback or interact with the project at all or does this lead to a crash as well?

Does this happen in brand new projects or with different video formats/files? Where is your media stored?

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani
