Search in timeline ignores camera label

# Issue

I'm not sure if this is by design or not but when searching for name (or all) in the timeline, the camera labels (e.g. MC1, MC2) will be ignored.

There unfortunately isn't a specific category to search for camera labels.

# Steps to reproduce

  • I open the timeline search
  • Settings are set to: search for all, containing
  • type in "MC1"
  • click the button that searches for all

# Expected result

All clips containing "MC1" will get selected.

# Actual result

No clip is selected.

# Adobe Premiere Pro version
25.6.3 (Build 2)

# Operating system
Win 11 25H2

Thanks for the extra context and information.  That helps a lot, and I can totally see why that would be a useful search filter.  I will flag this for our developers and confirm it isn't actually a bug. However, I believe you're right, and currently, we don't have that option. I will investigate further as I'm sure many users would appreciate this function.

Hi @Rach McIntire

I'm talking about the label that is autoatically added to the sequence name after the multicam is activated

[MC1] and [MC2] for example

When the multicam is activated, the original sequence name disappears and the camera label and the clip name behind it (the nest) will act as a replacement.

A search will select the exposed clip name (DJI) but won't select the camera lable (MC1).

In cases where a camera perspective (video track) consists of multiple clips, I can't just search for a clip name, so there's no easy workaround to select all clips of a specific camera perspective.
The only way is to flatten the multicam and use label colors but that way I'll loose the multicam.

I can also move the camera perspectives to separate tracks like this:

but this is a lot of manual labour and makes no sense for editing.

The reason I want to select only one perspective, is to add effects/adjustments to all clips of a perspective without loosing the ability to change the perspective later.

For my usecase there sure are a lot of other ways and workarounds but the main thing is this:

I should be able to search for the labels/names that are shown on the timeline. With camera labels this is currently not possible.

Hi @athletic_fact6385
I'm sorry to hear search isn't working as you'd expect.  I think I'll need a bit more context to help with the issue.  When you say camera labels, how are you "labeling" the clips with these cameras? Is it a folder name?  Is it text in the clip name?  Are you actually adding the metadata?   Do you mean multicam channel 1? Are you able to create a video of how you're searching and give more details of how the MC1 info is associated with the clips on the timeline that would be helpful for us to reproduce the problem.

I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the frustration!
