Selecting single clip to offline kicks entire sequence offline (Premiere 2024.2.1)

When I select a single clip in my sequence to be offlined and linked to a higher resolution clip, it kicks the entire sequence offline.

I'm on Premiere 2024.2.1. Sonoma 14.4. M2 Ultra Mac Studio.

I have video demonstrating it attached.

When I click on the file and offline it in the project panel, it only offlines the single clip. However, in the timeline, it affects everything. Please advise.

Hi @Andrew360124889acw

Checking in to see if the latest version Premiere 26.3.2 is still giving you this issue. If so, please let me know if any specs have changed and it you’re willing to share a sample project that is experiencing this issue.

Best,

Amy

It worked fine on my MacBook Air running Sonoma still. I recently got a Macbook Pro so I updated both to Tahoe and right clicking the clip and making offline works fine. But I had a keyboard shortcut I was using that worked fine but now when I do it, it makes all the clips offline like as described in this post.

Appreciate the consideration. I've been an edit professional for 10+ years.

I understand this is another method of the same thing, but the principle is if you click on a singular clip in the timeline and offline it, it shouldn't make most of the other clips go offline as well. I can understand that being the case when I'm selecting all clips, but I'm not doing that.

This is an instance of something we used to be able to do but now can not. I already have a shortcut to Reveal in Project Panel and Reveal in Finder mapped, but it is an unnecessary extra step when what I'm doing is something Premiere used to allow without issue.

don't know your premiere skills level (so don't get offended), but control clicking on a clip in the timeline and choosing "reveal in project" is very quick and I'm pretty sure you can assign a keystroke combo for it...

@RobShultz as I stated in my post, yes, selecting it in the Project Panel seems to work as intended. However, doing it in the timeline is quicker for our workfow purposes. This was previously not an issue, so I'm hoping it can be investigated, confirmed as a bug, and a solution is implemented.

Try making it offline in the Project Panel.
