Sonoma 14.6.1 & Sequoia 15.0 playback issues and color scope glitches?

Anyone else having this issue?

I bought a refurbished Macbook M2 pro 16gb, it came with Ventura. I edited a project on Premiere Pro, was fine. Then it did a force update to 14.6.1 and have had issues ever since. I'm also not sure if I have a lemon of a laptop because I only had it a few weeks so not sure if it's the MacOS or software. I'm having the same issues on Davinci Resolve (I only got DR after updating to 14.6.1 so I don't have a reference before).

I had the same spec laptop with a job and it was on Sonoma 14.3, no issues on PP.

The project settings are correct and match the clip settings (sony a6700 1080p, h.264, 23.796fps)

After 1-15 minutes of editing, the playback will glitch like it's stuck on a loop and won't refresh. The app doesn't crash, I can click on things but the playback stays stuck in a glitchy loop. The color scopes on lumetri has the same issue where it'll flash glitch the same spot over and over. This is the exact same issue on both PP & DR.

I see, @Jessdesign,

Thanks for the message. I apologize for the frustration and lost time this situation caused. Is there anything else I can help you with? Please let me know. Take care.

Thanks,
Kevin

not really helpful now, it did one of those forced updates that I didn't cancel in time so it took.

I ended up swapping computers and upgraded to a stronger one, this laptop is on Ventura and I'm leaving it for now but I'm now 2 OS further back so not great and unfortunately you can't chose which update version OS to update to

also no matter if I click "don't allow" this keeps popping up each time I open PP on Sequoia

Hi @Jessdesign,

Thanks for reporting back. Sorry for the frustration. Have you tried the Beta version yet? Perhaps that will be more stable considering that OS is major new update. Historically, video editors tend not update macOS or Windows until well after the release of that major new release, unless there is a mission critical issue that needs addressing. That said, you say you are having trouble on the current version, as well. I have yet to reproduce those errors on my Mac (my home office includes a 2020 MacBook Pro M1). Let me know if Beta works better.

Thanks,
Kevin

I tried a new project with a few 10 second clips taken from my phone, played with color grading and the app completely crashed after adjusting a few things with lumetri color after about 20 seconds

was having issues in sonoma 14.6.1 as well, I upgraded hoping it would miraculously fix it, it did not

just changed the audio hardware: no input

I played around with a few things in the lumetri color, after about 20 seconds of adjustments, the playback glitched again, the audio continues but the preview does not, flashes and stays on the same part it froze on and then the lumetri scopes don't refresh either as they are stuck in the same spot

playback resolution is at half, and I'm only editing in 1080p, which I've done forever on the previous laptop with the same specs without the same issues

Thanks for reporting. I just noticed that you are using macOS 15. It could be related to the OS. Do you have the same problem in a new project? Thx, ^KM

Hello @Jessdesign,

Thanks for the bug report and the information.

When I hear anything about a shot looping, I suspect Settings > Audio Hardware might not be set optimally. Try setting the  Default Input to No Input. Does that work for you? Let me know.

Cheers,
Kevin
