SONY PXW Z190 camera files causing Adobe Premiere to crash.

I'm having issues with Adobe Premiere and files recorded on the Sony PXW-Z190 camera.

This camera records in XAVC-L 1080P codec. When I import these files into Premiere, create a timeline using the file settings, and Premiere simply crashes.

This happens with all files recorded in this format and on this camera.

We have tested these files on 6 other computers and the same problem occurs on all of them.

Adobe Premiere is updated to its latest version (24.5.0) and still the problem persists.

We have already cleared the cache and reinstalled the program several times and nothing has resolved the issue.

Our current workaround is to convert the files in Adobe Encoder. This solves the problem.

However, this becomes totally impractical due to the amount of footage recorded daily, causing the editing process to be slow. We are a local TV channel, where we need to edit urgently.

Below are my computer specifications:

Operating System: Win 10 (64 bits) 22h2 Processor: 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900k GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Memory: 128 GB

Premiere Version: 24.5.0

I have this same issue with footage from the same family of cameras. I was in contact with Adobe Support trying to figure out what was causing the crashes for two months before ending communication and deeming the problem unsolved. Thank you for this post!

We are running a regular workshop here at the film school. The students shoot on the Sony Z190 cameras and edit in Premiere in the H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (Part 10) codec the camera shoots in. i understand this isn't the best codec for editing, but this is to save time transcoding and should work for a small project.
We do this often, but since the last update, 24.5, Premiere crashes with no warning for every one of the ten students, about 10-20 minutes into an edit.
It is hard to troubleshoot this as the creative cloud ap has no way of going back a version. Premiere is working for other codecs.

I'll leave substantive comment to the Formats team, but this caught my eye:

It is hard to troubleshoot this as the creative cloud ap has no way of going back a version.

Has a system administrator limited your CC usage in some way?

Unless that's the case, CC Desktop definitely DOES offer ways to roll back to previous versions:

I downloaded the beta version. I opened the same files and at first there were no failures that would cause the program to terminate. For now it is working without problems. I will try to use the beta version for further testing. Can you tell me the cause of this problem? Thanks a lot for the help!

Hi @juniorf35710282 - We have received the files, thank you!  I have reproduced this issue while scrubbing a sequence on Windows in version 24.5.  Can you try downloading the beta 24.6 and see if that helps you.

Hello! I just sent via WeTransfer some of the files that are causing problems. I apologize for my English. I'm Brazilian and I have to use Google Translator to speak here. I just sent the files. I'm waiting! Thanks!

Had serious problems with some sony material a few years ago with intermittent crashing particularly when trying but not exclusively when attempting to generate proxies.   There were issues with the color space of the material.  select a clip in the project and go modify color and try overriding the color space to rec709 solved most of the issues...
