Transitions starting/ending in between frames

Issue
I'm unsure if this a bug, but for some reason any type of transition (audio, video, effect, fade in/out, etc). Does not precisely "snap" to frames and you can end a transition between a frame. Which isn't ideal especially if you are trying to be precise as it can be time consuming ensure that a transition/fade in/out started and ended where it was suppossed to. I only noticed this behavior in the most recent update of premiere (25.4). I downgraded to 25.3 and it's reverted and back to normal. I also want to clarify that I do not have Show Audio Time Units enabled. This can happen anywhere in the timeline regardless of where the playhead is. I have created a new project and the same behavior is still there. What makes me think this a bug, is because this would not make sense for video frames.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a project in Premiere Pro
  2. Ensure Show Audio Time Units is disabled
  3. Add any type of media into the timeline
  4. Add a cross dissolve or any type of transition
  5. Zoom in until you can't anymore
  6. Hover over the transition/cross dissolve
  7. Select the transition/cross dissolve
  8. Move your cursor slowly to left and/or right while having the transition/cross dissolve selected

Expected Result

The expected result is the transition/cross dissolve start/end snapping to frames and not being able to be stopped in between them.

Actual result

The actual result is being able to start/end or move a transition/cross dissolve between frames.

Screen recording

Adobe Premiere Pro version 25.4.0 (Build 99)

Comparative information

  • Does it affect all projects or only some projects? Yes, all projects.
  • Does it affect new projects? Yes.
  • When did the problem begin? After updating to the latest version of Premiere Pro 25.4.0 (build 99).

This is a bug, that has already been fixed internally, and is fixed in Beta already.  Thank you for reporting it.

Hi @IanB_360, thanks for getting back so swiftly. Yes, that is the difference I noticed between these two versions. What leads me to believe this may be a bug or something unintended, is that you can do this with video frames and not just audio. In addition to that, I can't seem to find any mention of this behavior change in the release notes for version 25.4 unless I missed it. Please let me know if there is any more information you need.

Thank you for your time,

Francisco

Hi @Bread_Stick_Collector
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. From your video, the main difference you are seeing between 25.4 and 25.3 is that the transition snaps to the frames and cannot be custom-dragged, correct? I will look at the behavior in 25.3 and speak with the team. In the meantime, if you have some media and a Project file you do not want to share, please send me a file share link via DM.
