Unable to add text with type tool

When I am typing any sort of text in premiere pro with the 'Type Tool', it activates my hotkeys instead. I've already updated my premiere pro, deleted it, re-installed it, but nothing works. I can't find any solution that works on Adobe Community...

 

Premiere Pro Version: 24.6.1 

Specs: Mac Studio / chip: Apple M2 Ultra

    This incorrect behavior was a bug in an earlier version that had a specific cause. It appears to persist for some users, but I cannot replicate the problem. I summarize the status in this updated post:

    So far, it appears to me that they have been unable to reproduce the continuing issue. I wonder if this is a new bug or a variation on the previous one.
