Unable to move multiple text layers via properties panel.

Summary: Unable to move the position multiple selected text layers via the properties panel.

Expected: Selecting multiple text layers should allow them to be repositioned together.

Actual: Multiple text layers cannot be moved unless another non-text object is also selected. This requires moving the extra object and then resetting its position, adding unnecessary steps.

Steps to Reproduce:

Create multiple text layers.
Select all text layers.
Attempt to move them via the properties panel
They won't move together unless another object is included in the selection.

This behavior worked correctly in previous versions so why is it doing this now?

In 2025 the only thing you could change with multiple text layers selected was the font size and the appearance. No transform properties.

I tried this every way I could think of after this screenshot was posted 7/7: I see no way to get a “multiple clips selected” properties panel with Transform, Text, and Appearance - only Text and appearance.

In Beta 26.5.0.51, I get Transform, Color, and Audio.

I also think there is a challenge here, since I think some users would expect this to modify the transform parameters under Text/transform, not Vector motion (which is what they do for graphics items). But other users would want it to modify position on screen, not layers within a graphic group.

Upvoted. I think this is a feature request. Even though it is not behaving the way either of us would like, it is by design.

You have multiple graphics text “clips” with a single text layer in each one. If you had multiple text layers in a single graphics clip, you can do what you want. But that is not what you need.

Your screen recording uses single word captions. If you created these from PR, you CAN handle subtitles in a subtitle track the way you want. Just set the position the same before using the Upgrade caption to graphic. With the new “Single Word Captions” setting, I created a tutorial that also includes positioning all the captions before upgrading to graphics (at :58).

Welcome to the Premiere forums, glad you’re here. Thanks for those great details so far and the screen recording is quite helpful.

May we ask also about your setup like if you’re on Mac/Windows and what OS, if Windows which driver/build version, and which Premiere version and build you’re using?

You mentioned it was working in previous versions, so are you on v26.3, and it was last working in v26.2.2? Wonder if it works in the recent Beta since that updates daily.

I just remember using this feature a while ago. Not sure on the exact version.

I’m currently on Mac v26.3

Tested on Beta v26.5 and produced the same results.

Highlight all the text layers shows no transform so you can’t move them. Highlighting all the text layers and a video layer, shows the transform properties so you can move them. This is all via the properties panel.

@KYLERHOLLAND Appreciate the additional information. When we tested, we were seeing the same as you were.

However, in reaching out for more testing, it seems that in v26.3, you should be able to multi-select those and move with transform in Properties. See screenshot from one of our team -

So we were able to recreate your bug and I will update you once I receive more information about a fix.
