V26.3.2 is unable to properly decode certain ProRes 4444 files from an Arri Alexa Mini

When trying to play .MOV files shot on an Alexa Mini in ProRes 4444 23.976 fps in V26.3.2, certain files (potentially shot upside down with the intention of being rotated correctly in post) does not playback properly and will not show in the Program Monitor. Scrubbing with the cursor will ‘play’ the file, but upside down.

If an export is attempted, a solid black frame is generated with no data.

Reverting to the latest update of Premiere Pro 2025 resolves this playback issue and all files appear on the timeline with no issue in the correct orientation and also does not generate black frames on these files upon export. Something in the latest update appears to prevent correct decoding and encoding of certain ProRes 4444 files. (V25.6.6)

    Hi @Saturnlight5,

Welcome to the Premiere forums. Thank you for reporting this occurrence and providing details. For the team to try to better assist you, we’ll need more information:

    • Please specify if you’re using Windows or macOS, along with the version.
      • GPU Driver (Windows only): Please let us know your video card driver version. We recommend updating to the most recent version; for NVIDIA users, we strongly recommend the Studio version of the driver.
    • How was the footage imported into Premiere?
      • Was the footage imported through Media Browser?
      • Was the footage transcoded at all before importing?
    • Is there LUT applied to the footage during import?
      • Could a LUT be associated in the metadata of the footage?
    • What are the export settings that result in the solid black frame output?

    For additional context:

    • Does it affect new, empty projects?
    • When did the problem first begin?
      • Is this the first time you’re experiencing this issue?

Sorry for the frustration. I hope we can help you soon.

    Best,

    Jonathan
