When color correcting in a multi cam sequence the lumetri color panel grays out and I can't make adjustments. Happening for 6 years

Anytime I create a multicam sequence and try to color correct within the multicam sequence, after a few adjustments the lumetri window grays out and I cannot make any adjustments. If I embed the multicam sequence within a new sequence I can make adjustments all day long with no issues. But, again, when I go into the container that holds the clips, after a few adjustments I can no longer use lumetri. It grays out. Here is a video I made showing the issue.

This has been going on for at least six years. I've seen other posts but no one can find the problem. Adobe will You please finally do something about this?

In the meantime, if you select the clips from the multicam but in the bin, right-click create sequence from selected ...maybe even do a quick top/tail Q/W edit to get just a bit of the ‘best’ frame to grade … then do the ‘main’ clip and match the others to that one … now …

Copy each clip’s Lumetri effect, and then select the clip back in the bin, and paste the effect onto the clip in the bin. Simply delete that grading sequence.

And now, as that is a ‘source effect’ application, all bits of any of those clips, anywhere in the project, will have that grade applied to them.

Grading clips down a multicam is a tremendous waste of time to me ...

Hey Neil. I see your suggestion but it does seem like a lot of extra work. My workflow is pretty simple. Make the Multicam sequence, grade the top track, paste that lumetri grade on the clips below, and you're done. Then you can simply toggle tracks on and off just to make sure they all match. Your method would require me double clicking back into the source clip with really no way to instantly compare the other tracks.

I don’t understand where you went with my suggestion. I never go to the Source monitor to grade anything ever.

1 - Grab the 2/3/whatever clips in the project bin …  create sequence.

2 - Do a quick top/tail edit if needed to get just the few frames to judge against each other if there’s several clips, as this way just tapping right- or left-arrow to move clip to clip on the sequence is fast.

3 - Grade the ‘main’ clip, match the others to it.

4- For each clip on that sequence, click the clip in the sequence, copy the Lumetri, click the clip in the bin, paste.

    5 - Delete that sequence.

I can do the above with 3-4 clips in under ten minutes, often a minute or two … and never ever go down a multicam grading on that timeline.

As the multicam is graded by the action of pasting the grades on the clips in the bin.
