When using the Properties panel (Transform, Edit Text, etc.), the program freezes and I have to force quit. I’ve been experiencing this issue since the 2026 update, and it persists with every new update. I am currently running version 26.2.0. My computer is a MacBook Pro with an Apple M3 Max chip and 36 GB of memory.

Hi there @Carla Giraudo

Thank you for stopping by the Premiere forums and giving us a little info about your specs and the issue you’re having with freezing. Sorry for the frustrations with that one. Our team is aware and actively investigating this.

I did want to confirm a little more details for our bug report.
1) What MacOS are you on?
2) How is your media stored? On a NAS? On an External Drive?
3) Have you ever had any crash reports come up to turn in? (Even if not, if you happen to, put your email in the blank before sending and DM us what that email is so we can directly look that up)
4) Do you have dual monitors and are they matching in resolution?

Also, is this happening in brand new, empty projects? I take it that it’s affecting all your projects if it began with the v26.X and thereafter updates, but can you confirm it’s affecting all or just some?

So the last working version of Premiere for you might have been v25.6.6? Or can you remember which version it was if not that?

If possible, the next time Premiere is freezing, would you be able to collect the Sample file from that? You can even open up Activity Monitor before you go back to work in Premiere so it’s easy to swap back to when it freezes again.

  1. Open Activity Monitor and identify the Premiere process (you can use search to filter for only Premiere)
  2. In Premiere, get it into the hanging/unresponsive state
  3. Switch back to Activity Monitor and right click on Premiere then choose > Create Sample
  4. Click Save, then save it as a text file somewhere easy to access.

Then, you can DM me and either provide us the link/access to this file or I can send you a direct Dropbox upload link to our Dropbox, whatever's easiest.

Appreciate your time and effort reporting on this and please do let us know these additional details for the report.

Thanks!
Katie

Hi @KatieToo

Here is the additional information regarding the issue:

1. macOS version: Tahoe 26.1 (25B78)

2. Storage: I store my Premiere projects on an external drive. The media files I'm working with are split-some are stored on the computer's internal drive, and the rest are on the external drive.

3. I have submitted crash reports multiple times.

4. I only use the built-in MacBook monitor (no external displays).

5. This freezing issue affects all of my projects.

6. I installed version 25.6.6 and it works perfectly. I could just stick to that version, but the 2026 release has useful features that I would really like to keep using.

I was able to generate the sample file you requested. I will send you the link via direct message.

One more important detail to add: when I first start the program, I can use the Properties panel without any issues. However, after working on a project for a few minutes, trying to interact with the Properties panel again causes the program to freeze.

Thank you for your help!

@Carla Giraudo Thank you for that additional information especially about how the panel starts as working and degrades after a few like that. oh and plus that sample file, that’s a great help! Appreciate it.

We’ll add this to the report and return once we receive any update.

Thank you so much,
Katie
