Windows / interlaced MXFs have incorrect field order when exported with Hardware Encoding

When exporting AS-11 MXFs from Windows Premiere or Media Encoder 2026 with H264/HEVC hardware accelerated encoding turned on, the exported file is presenting with reversed / broken field order when viewed in our QC suite via Iris.

The issue is not visible when viewing the exports in Prem, or VLC, or in any proxies made during our post-export workflow. However it IS visible when the files have been broadcast.

It is possible to get a good export directly from Prem by turning off HW encoding, but for some reason that option is greyed out in ME 2026 so we have no way of doing batch exports.

We’ve had to roll back both Prem and ME to 25.2 in order to temporarily fix the situation. However this comes with it’s own set of problems as projects are not backward-compatible.

Welcome back to the Premiere forums, and thank you for reporting this occurrence. To try to better assist you, the team needs more detail:

Please let us know your video card driver version.
- We recommend updating to the most recent version; for NVIDIA users, we strongly recommend the Studio version of the driver.
What happens when exporting with accelerated encoding turned off?
Have you experienced this error before on Premiere 26.3, or is this the first time?
Would it be possible to send us a screenshot or a screen recording of the issue?
Furthermore, there have been some MXF improvements in the latest Premiere Beta. Could you let us know if updating to the Beta helps your exports?

Thanks for getting back quickly.

The main machine affected is on 591.86, however the issue is reproducible across multiple workstations with a variety of cards in them, including one on the latest Studio driver.

When exporting directly from Prem with accelerated encoding off the export is fine. However as mentioned that’s not possible in ME for some reason.

We’ve experienced this issue frequently over the past few months, it just took us a long time to figure out that this was the cause.

I’m not sure a screen recording will help, but the exports in question look exactly like reversed / broken field order - i.e nasty juddering / motion blur with combing.

I will give the Beta a try on one of our machines, however it’s not ideal to have to use a Beta as part of our workflow as we have high volumes of archive content heading out to broadcast. I’d much rather stick with a tried and tested version (25.2) for the time being.
