Apply an image to an object (not available)

Hello community,

I try to apply a picture on a simple 3D model (a cube)
The option Menu,  Import /Place image on model is grey out is not available.
This is the first time i have encountered this problem.
I have tired with Dimension too, or different 3D models whitout any success.

Has anyone faced this? thanks a lot for your help
