Hello Stagers! I'm super excited to announce that we've launched Generative Backgrounds, powered by Adobe Firefly! This feature is available now in the Substance 3D Stager (Beta) application. The Beta application can be downloade via the Creative Cloud desktop app, under the beta apps section. Generative Backgrounds allows you to use a combination of text prompts and high-level controls (color, lighting, composition) to generate photorealistic background imagery for your staging needs. This can save a ton of time compared to building out 3D scene backgrounds, and can be more flexible and customizable than searching for the right stock photograph. Generative Backgrounds is in public beta and does not consume generative credits at this time. See the full documentation.
Adobe Team,I am requesting a clear and direct response regarding the future of Substance 3D Stager on macOS.For years, Mac users have been asking about native Apple Silicon support for Stager, yet there has been little to no meaningful communication from Adobe. At the same time, Apple has officially announced the end of major support for Intel-based Macs, and the industry is rapidly moving away from Intel compatibility.This raises a serious concern:What exactly is Adobe's plan for Substance 3D Stager?Currently, Stager remains an Intel-only application. As Apple continues to phase out Intel technologies and eventually eliminates compatibility layers, there is a very real possibility that paying customers will lose access to a product they have invested in and built professional workflows around.Therefore, I would like Adobe to provide a direct answer to the following questions:• Is a native Apple Silicon version of Substance 3D Stager actively being developed?• If development is ongoing
There is a few 3D package able to apply textures to bump or normal chanel, and for design mockup it’s mandatory to be able to export these textures in the only file format able to do this : it’s 3MF which is handled by Mimaki, and Stratsys for both color and texture, and other 3D printers for texture only. In Stager when I switch on Raytracing the GPU takes over and it raytraces in the window. But when I switch from Design to Render the GPU fails to load and switches to CPU rendering. An error pops up and I’m attaching the log it points to. It wouldn’t let me upload the log file without being zipped.CPU Rendering doesn’t do anything though, the render window never renders but says it’s rendering. When ever I switch between design / render now it warns me it’s rendering and switching will cancel it. But it doesn’t cancel it, it’s just stuck in rendering nothing.
I have a USDZ file that is only 33.8MB that images fine on my Mac in Preview and QuickLook, but when I try and import it into Stager, after it thinks for a few seconds, and the progress bar is about half way through, it pops up a dialog saying it can’t import it and report it here;Unfortunately I can’t share the data, but if there’s something I can check locally happy to do it.
Hi everyone,I’ve been exploring Substance 3D Stager for creating product mockups and wanted to ask how others here are using it for e-commerce presentations. I run a small dropshipping business and often work with suppliers like PB Fulfill in China. Since I don’t always have the products in hand for photography, I’ve started using Stager to create realistic 3D product renders that I can showcase in my store and marketing campaigns.Has anyone else here integrated Stager into their product design or e-commerce workflow? Do you have tips on optimizing textures, lighting, or exporting for online shops?Would love to hear your experiences!
I am getting so frustrated with Stager and the way the rotation coordinates are constantly changing on me when I'm trying to fine tune the angles making it almost impossible to actually get what I want.I recorded my screen for a while and have put together this video using clips from the recording to show what is going on. I have also outlined below what I did each time and what I expect to happen Vs what actually happens.In the first clip you can see that the rotation values are X150 Y180 Z-180. I want to rotate it a bit more on the Z axis so I change that from -180 to -190. When I hit enter the -190 changes to 170 and the Y value changes from 180 to -180. OK I don't understand why but fine. Then I want to change it back to the way it was so I type in -180 again and it changes it to 180 instead. Now I have it back the way it was but the Y is now -180 and the Z is now 180. So the opposite of what they were to start with yet exactly the same framing.The next clip at about the 20 second
The glb file exported by Stager does not have a Height mesh, and it has become Displacement. However, I need it to have a Height. Can the Height and Displacement be made as export options?
Hello. This is happening pretty much all the time. I work on a file and then when trying to open it again to continue working I get a notification that says Unable to Open Document. The only option it provided is to copy the log and describe the issue in the forum.

It would be great if the Substance 3D Asset library could be directly integrated into the Stager interface to avoid having to stop > go to a browser > download a file > manually manage that file > and import the asset, every single time. Rather, being able to simply have a palette open where we can drag-and-drop models and materials directly into our scene and onto our objects would be a tremendous time saver (and imho, a significant competitive value.)Kind regards, and thanks for your consideration.
As a user trying to migrate from Keyshot to Stager I find the locked palette structure quite slow to work with. Please consider a more conventional Adobe-style palette system, wherein users with larger screens, or multi-display setups, can benefit from more efficient, customized, 1:1 workspaces.As well, nested palettes, cf.; Properties: Transform / Object / Material / Animation; and Assets: Shapes / Models / Materials, etc., should also be discrete, in order that users with screen space available can benefit from avoiding the UX friction of constant scrolling and tabbing to locate parameters that could otherwise be visible.Kind regards, and thanks for your consideration.
I use Stager to mockup products. Sometimes I need to emphasize product features by moving pieces around to expose internal workings and zoom in. I make separate layers for this as well as creating new cameras for the different angles. Rather than manually hiding and showing layers, it would be awesome if I could link layer visibility to each camera. So when I enable camera 1, layers 1-3 are visible and all others are off. Camera 2 enables visibility to layers 4-7 and hides 1-3.
I can import some .fbx models, but this one doesn’r import. Why?
I am having the Adobe Substance Stage Black Screen issue…. Everything was working fine but now when I open the project I have the black screen. There are multiple links and artwork in the file. I deleted the cache + folders, cleared logs and still nothing….. I want to note that I am using a Mac Studio M3 Ultra computer so as Apple thought it would be a good idea to remove the powerful GPUs and give us some little integrated garbage chip I am not sure how to fix this. Any ideas?
I'm encountering a couple issues. Anyone else on an an M1 Mac noticing that none of the Generative AI features work at all? Like, there isn't any notification saying "this feature isn't available" or "unable to…" or anything. No progress bar or indicator that stalls, literally just nothing happens. Am i the only one that's happening to? Plus, 50% of the time I do a "replace object…" it's another instance where nothing happens. It's not a full crash, because I can still click on menus and palettes, just nothing that would actually trigger an action within the document. Any ideas?
I am using the latest version of Stager and like many others, am experiencing the blank screen problem. I have tried every suggested -- deleting aero$ folders, checking graphics card, all of it. Nothing works. I can't even close the program without using forced quit. Unless someone can suggest something that actually works, I'm going to uninstall and try to forget this program. Adobe? On windows 10.

I’m writing this out of genuine frustration. We are now well into the Apple Silicon era — with M4 and even M5 chips already on the market — yet Substance 3D Stager still does not support GPU acceleration on macOS. At this point, this is no longer a minor limitation. It effectively makes Stager impractical for serious use on Mac. Apple GPUs have already proven their performanceCompeting 3D tools like Blender, Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D, and others actively support Metal-based GPU accelerationYet Stager remains locked to CPU-only rendering on macOS As a result: Rendering performance is dramatically slower than competing toolsHigh-resolution or complex scenes are barely usableMac users are effectively excluded from the Substance 3D workflow So I have to ask — clearly and directly: Is Mac GPU support for Substance 3D Stager actually in development?Or is it simply not a priority? If it is in development, then why is there no public road
I have a problem: materials exported from Substance Sampler show color discrepancy when rendered in Substance Stager, even though the HDR has been adjusted to be consistent. How can I solve this issue?
I would like added/enhancements to Substance 3D Stager viewport to add some things from former Substance 3D Viewer. I would like the Top, Bottom, Front, Back, etc. ThanksBobby
as the title says.Post Effects, Color Profiles, Tone Mapping are a necessity. any 3D render program have them by default. not just limited to these. but Stager should have many more settings and ability to tweak post processing in real time.another HUGE bonus would be having the Iray render engine as an alternative engine to able to render with. Its magnificisent. and I and assume many others, if they texture in substance, they check them in subs iray renderer first and then go the stager or whatever else for final rendering. so it would fill the gap of materials and the general look looking 1 to 1.
