Thank you! Are you still interested in the informationabout OS, PP Version, files used, ect?

What @Christian Leibig said is correct. We had at least six different threads about the same root problem started at around the same time. Se we merged them all into one so that everyone can see the status and add their own comments in one place. The bug is already fixed internally and should be available within the next day or two. See my correct answer post about a workaround in the meantime.

This usually happens if your thread gets merged with another, because usually many people report the same bug in a slightly different way. You can see that you are no longer the author of this thread.

    @jstrawn

    The workaround works for me.

Can someone explain how this thread, which I started, had it's title changed?

I titled it "Playhead freezes in Version 25.2.0 BETA" and someone changed it to "P: Spacebar does not start playing the timeline".

    Who changed it and why?

UPDATE: The fix for this problem has been verified on mac and win at Pr25.2xBeta050. Please update to that build or later when you can.

Thank you @Lounger and everyone else who took the time to report this to us. We have found the root cause and a fix is on the way. For now, as a workaround, please make sure the Audio preference "Play audio while scrubbing" is checked ON and then restart PrPro after checking it on or off. See the attached image for clarity.

IGNORE what I said below. We have found the repro, a workaround and a fix. See my "Correct Answer" post.

Thank you @Lounger and everyone else who took the time to report this to us. We're working hard to reproduce the problem locally which is necessary to isolate the root cause and fix it. So we'll need the following specifics from anyone willing to share them with us:

    PrPro build used (example: Pr25.2xBeta048)
OS used (example: MacOS Sonoma 14.1.1)
Video and/or Audio format used in Timeline (a short sample file would be even better)
    Effects applied (if any)
Anything else specific in your timeline?

I created a hot key sequence: Shift 2 (to open Source Monitor), Space (to Play), Delay 100 ms, Space (to stop), Shift 4 (to switch back to Program Monitor). I did this with my Stream Deck but you could easily use any hot key app like Autohotkey. Takes less than a second to run and it reactivates the space-to-play. Of course you need to do it every time the player stops.

I'm sure a fix will be coming soon but this is my workaround to get my project finished.

Same experience for me. My temp workaroung is to quickly switch to the Source Monitor play a few frames and switch back to the Program monitor. This seems to re-enable the playhead via the spacebar or play button.

Updated this morning to Beta Version 48; the error still persist; Timelines are only playing in the Source Monitor; all attempts running/playing in the timeline do not work; in the inspector window the button changes from stop to play, but only the button, the timeline won`t play; at this moment PP is unusable!
