There seems to be about 20 threads talking about issues with the edting on the timeline, deleting clips etc....

Thought I would share I download and tested Build 12 (as per title) and these issues seem to have been corrected.

I have tested all the issues I had, and they all were restored.  If you can confirm your issues were resolved and post here (or if somethign remains broken).  keepign it all in one place may help others more quickly.

Product: Premiere Pro Beta (Version 26.1) Operating System: macOS Tahoe (26.2) Hardware: MacBook Pro M3 (Apple Silicon)

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering a critical issue in Premiere Pro Beta 26.1 on my M3 MacBook Pro running macOS Tahoe 26.2. This bug is preventing me from making any basic timeline edits.

The Problem:

When I right-click on any video or audio clip in the timeline, the context menu that pops up has almost all items grayed out/disabled. Even thought the timeline is active and clips unlocked. The same project works fine in older builds when exported trought XML.

The ONLY active option is:

  • Show Clip Keyframes

Consequences:

  1. Cannot Delete: I cannot delete clips from the timeline, either via the right-click menu, the main Edit menu (where most actions are also grayed out), or by pressing the Delete key on my keyboard.
  2. No Contextual Edits: I cannot access essential options like Replace Footage, Unlink, Nest, or Apply Default Transition.

Steps Taken (and Verified):

  • I am certain the timeline panel is active/selected (blue outline).
  • I have verified the individual clip is selected/highlighted before right-clicking.
  • The video and audio tracks are NOT locked.
  • The issue persists even after restarting the application.
  • The issue persists even after upgrading the OS and re-installing the Premiere beta.

This behavior strongly suggests a fundamental loss of context recognition between the timeline and the application interface in this specific Beta build.

Has anyone else on macOS Tahoe 26.2 (or older)  experienced this specific bug in Premiere Pro Beta 26.1? Are there any known workarounds (e.g., specific preferences file reset, or a specific key combination) that resolve this issue?

Thank you for your help!

I am experiencing the exact same problem. Updated to the latest version yesterday.- Premiere Pro Beta (Version 26.1) - Macbook - Sequoia OS. Really regretting that I downloaded the Beta right now. I made the mistake of double-clicking a major project file and didn't notice that it opened with the Beta version and after I made edits and saved it, there's no going back. I wish they would put a warning up before it loads the file in beta. I'm no help here except to say you're not the only one.

Premiere will not select the timeline, it only will focus on program monitor. So if i zoom in or zoom out using - / + keys for instance, it will only do so for the program monitor.

I can't use any shortcut keys because the timeline panel will not get focus. If i click on the timeline window the focus always goes to the program monitor.

Slow, slow editing and rendering on Premere Beta multicam timeline. 3 cameras (I do these school videos every year). I started in latest version of Premiere but it distorted Panasonic camera audio, so I moved to Beta but , very slow to render and playback. I have multiple SSD drives and my computer configuration is:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900KF CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz

128 GB (128 GB usable)

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor   /  Windows 11 Pro

Nvidia RTX5090

I am attempting to trim a section of video, rolling edit works, but if I try and select the section (or any clip on this timelime) and it will not let me use the delete key, right clip / delete or clear.

I have imported the timeline into a new project and same issue.

This happens to all clips.

Source is H265, with Proxy Prores in use, with proxy off issue persists.

Even if I go to the end of the project and try and cut, then delete the tail of the with nothing remaining on the timeline after this it also doesnt allow it to be removed:

Join through edits is also not available (but should be)

Timeline does not focus with the mouse, it defaults to the program window. So effects controls and short cut keys dont work well at all. You have to select the timecode in the timeline for the timeline to focus and get the blue highlight around it. Very problematic.
