Cannot apply changes to shared project

I very much appreciate the new feature to update already shared projects to keep the link the same, in our case we're gonna have a showroom with printed out QR codes and it would be nice to know they don't have to be updated.
Unfortunately I have yet to see this apply feature work: I always get the message that something went wrong.

Is there something i could try to circumvent this issue?
