Inconsistent, erroneous forum search results

I know this is  a pointless excercise, since Adobe doesn't participate here, but I'll document this in any case:

The search tool on the new Gainsight platform reports wildly different numbers of results for the same query. For example:

https://community.adobe.com/search?q=sync%20colour%20labels&category=Lightroom%20Classic

reports 130, 274, 180, etc. as the number of result posts.

When I scroll to the very end of the search results by hitting the Page Down button (with auto-repeat), the actual number of results displayed is many times the original number: 1543, 529, 838, etc. (I counted by copying the page’s DOM tree from Chrome into a text file and searching that text file.)

But then the summary at the top always changes to "100 Posts".

And the displayed results include a large number of duplicates, e.g.

These results are a sham -- just more of the low quality we're coming to expect from the new forums.

@Nancy OShea I’ve always found Google Search to be more reliable

With the old Khoros forums, I found the forum search generally more useful than Google.  Google didn’t fully index the Lightroom Classic forum, and it didn’t provide for reliable searches by author or let you sort results by date.  But I’d revert to Google for perhaps 10% of my searches.

Currently, Google isn’t indexing many older posts in the new forum.

    It’s too soon, yet.

In my experience, new sites take 1-3 months for Google to catch up to new URLs and drop old ones.

I’ve always found Google Search to be more reliable than 3rd party search systems.

Especially if you give it search parameters like Adobe Community, Forum, Topic.

Example: Adobe Community, Stock Contributors, White Balance

yep, I posted about this on Slack several days ago (I think it’s the same problem you describe, or part of the same problem):

Yup, I’m just writing all these things down as I encounter them.
