I’m experiencing an audio channel bug in Adobe Premiere Pro.

I’m experiencing an audio channel bug in Adobe Premiere Pro, and the same issue also occurs in the Premiere Pro Beta version.

Issue:
When I import a downloaded clip from the Project Panel into an existing sequence, audio only plays from one side/channel. However, when I create a new sequence using the exact same clip, audio works correctly on both sides.

What I checked:

  • The source clip is not corrupted

  • Audio works properly outside Premiere Pro

  • Audio hardware settings are correct

  • Channel mapping and sequence settings were checked

  • No export/download issue

  • Speakers/headphones are functioning correctly

Observation:
The issue only happens in certain existing sequences. Creating a fresh sequence from the same clip temporarily fixes the problem, which suggests a possible sequence audio mapping or internal software bug rather than a media or hardware issue.

Additional Information:

  • The same behavior is also present in the Premiere Pro Beta version

  • This suggests the issue may be related to the core sequence/audio handling system

Please investigate this issue, as it appears inconsistent and reproducible across both stable and beta builds of Premiere Pro.

I am also having this issue.

  • Issue: Audio re-mapping does not work, or appears to work, but has then been undone after export using AME
  • Steps to Reproduce: This has happened twice to me on two different computers in completely different projects, and appears to be random:
    • Drag audio into the timeline. It is stereo, but recorded through one channel (the other channel being allocated to a seperate mic)
    • Remap the audio by right click and selecting audio channels
  • Expected Result: Audio is present in both L and R channel. It shows up on timeline as two seperate wave forms, and in the sound monitor as identical inputs through L and R.
  • Actual Result:
    • A. Nothing Changed
    • B. Audio appeared to have been remapped, but exported only on L side
  • Screen Recording: attempted screen recording, but bug didn’t occur
  • Premiere Version: 26.2.2
  • Operating System: MacOSx Tahoe 26.5 and Mac OSxTahoe 26.1
  • Video Format: Export: AppleProRes 422LT 1920x1080 timeline to vimeo1080p25

Helpful Context

  • Appears random
  • has not affected empty project
  • first incident was early May.

What do the pan controls look like in the clip and track mixer?
