Dreamweaver

Hello,I have a website we're building that has to use one PHP file to declare and set the values of some global JS variables.  Then in anotehr JS file we have to take actions based on the values in those global variables. However, in DreamWeaver the JS file is full of false-positive error messages for "undeclared variable" with regard to all those global JS variables ( that were declared and given values in the previous PHP file ). Of course, everything works properly when we test our logic in a web browser.  But it's now hard to debug this long JS file, because we have to constantly hover over, see and then disregard 90% of the error lines - as they are false positive - in order to finally arrive at and fix any REAL errors when we add or update the logic. Does anybody know a way around this?  Making DreamWeaver properly aware of previously declared global variables between multiple files? Thank You

I was provided with a  locked template for header and footer created in php and I can only amend what's in the body.could you please advise? Many thanks,Anna

All file types that I've put to the site have worked so far, however after putting an rdp config file to the site, for users to download, I am having issues. I am going through the same steps I do to put pdf's and such to the site. When I right click the image that is linked to the rdp file on the live site, and try to save the link from chrome (windows 10), in the chrome downloads it is stating "Failed - No file". It is pulling down the correct file name, and when I open that file in the Dreamweaver file browser, it opens up the rdp session correctly. I have also tried this on Edge and got the same result. I'm using Adobe Dreamweaver 11.5 5315 and was wondering if anyone here had ever experienced issues with putting/downloading rdp config files on the site. Thank you!

Hello, all, There is one thing that has been mildly frustrating and I've put it off long enough. I have Dw set so that it will automatically open the files that were left open when Dw closed. Every time I start Dw, the file tab that had the focus when I closed Dw (assuming more than one file opened) gets moved to the far right (still has focus). Why?  What is the point?  I don't care if the last focus gets focus back when Dw opens, but moving it to the far right (esp if I have 20+ documents open) is annoying.  Is there a fix, for this? V/r, ^ _ ^

I'm doing some updates for a client who has a couple of links on Google ranked 1 and 3 for a specific search term. Unfortunately the link to the pages contains a specifc brand name, which the client no longer supports, and wants all references to it removed from their website and replaced with another similar product. I know I can use the htaccess file to redirect the old link to the new link and I've suggested not having any brand name in the link in case they want to revise the product again in a couple of years. However if I use in the htaccess file: Redirect 301 /brand_name https://domainname.com/new_product_name/ Then will the high ranking links listed in Google be dropped over time or is Google clever enough to realise the old link has been moved and maintain the high ranking to the new link. Also will it update the description associated with the Google listing for the new product description as that is different to the old one or is it a matter of starting over f

Every time I try to put my site files to the remote server it gives me an error and says file not transferred, but the window closes before I can figure out why the files are not being put to the server. I was having a problem putting files so I had to use an outside ftp program. This only happens with a particular site, my other sites the window seems to stay open until I close it but there are also no error messages. WOuldn't it make sense to keep the window open when there is an error? I tried re-putting all of my files back on the server using the seperate ftp program to see if that would fix it and no still not working.

How a so old feature of PHP (add in PHP4) is not implant in DW ?Why ? Is it just my imagination or is the forum in 'melt down' again? Hey eeryone - ok my team of developers has CC and Captivate. We use Captivate to create SCORM compliant web sites and it can be used by strong or weak developers alike. But out core developer team finds the program very frustrating - the WYSIWYG interface and hand holding Advanced Actions are too binding. We have tried to use Javascript with it, with a variety of success.  But for me, I see an amazing tool just sitting there that we could be using - Dreamweaver. We all know what Dreamweaver can do, but I find it amazing that it as far as I know, cannot add a SCORM interface. Surely I am missing something. Captivate just produces a website, compiling everything into a giant CPM.js file. And wraps it in SCORM. Is there some way with CC2020 to do this Dreamweaver? thanks!

Do you still need to keep a current subscription of Dreamweaver CS6, when you upload the website to a server host?  Or can you upload the website and then later ask for a refunded subscription?

On an old web site I was able to rollover a thumbnail and make a "base" image swap out to a larger version of the thumbnail (art site). I want to do this again on the current DW, but I can't figure out how to do it. I tried copying the code from the old site and replacing the names, but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me with the code for this? I'll copy the existing code here in case that helps. Hi All, I am trying to make a change to my site from the template page, and for some reason it isn't updating any of the child pages that are linked to it. It seems to allow me the option to update other templates I have in the site Template file (my backups), but won't allow access to the child pages in the site. Hope that makes sense. I have tried 'Recreating the Site Cache' and saving the file again in case it somehow became corrupt. Could this be related to the recent Dreamweaver update that came from Adobe? I haven't changed any of my settings and normally it works very smoothly. Any suggesitons are greatly appreciated! I have recently updated my laptop to Windows 10.   I updated my home page and uploaded it with changes to my web site using Dreamweaver 8.  The updates do not show up on my web site even though I have tried it several times.  (I have cleared the cache.)  Please can you help?Thank youMary Ann

When clicked, the toggle menu does not expand to cover the entire screen. How do I lose the margins or padding on the expanded menu and how to center the search form? Also on Chrome there appears to be a blue outline around the toggle icon.https://westsideobserver.com/Blank.html 

Just uploaded new site to bluehost server and the site is not responsive on their end, only shows desktop view.The site works perfectly on adobe preview - mobile, tablet and desktop.Spoke with bluehost and they said it isn't on their end that it is in the developer end,Any suggestions?

OK I'm stumped. After updating DW on my PC earlier this month I was getting the menus.xml error on startup.  Deleting menus.xml and renaming menus.bak to menus.xml didnt fix the issue. Uninstalling DW and reinstalling after using Adobe CC Cleaner tool is also not fixing the problem.  Im losing a lot of production time from this and dont really know where to go now.  Can anyone shed any light on this please?

When attempting to reinstall Adobe Extension Manager for Dreamweaver CS-5 a window comes up and gives the following message: The Extension Manager will now launch and finish updating Dreamweaver.  A second window opens saying: You are about to install the 'Dreamweaver HTML5 Pack' extension.  Please read the following carefully before you continue. (Extension Disclaimer) Accept or Decline?  I Accept, and then move on to the next window.  The following messages comes up: The extension 'Dreamweaver HTML5 Pack' does not contain valid signature.  The extension will not be installed. Is there a fix for this?  I have uninstalled Dreamweaver, downloaded the file from the Adobe web site and reinstalled about 5 times, all to no effect with reference to the above issue. It was working perfectly before I had a hard crash.  I then replaced two hard drives and reinstalled all my software.  This has been an issue with Dreamweaver since reinstalling it

I have been working on a new website for several months, without problems. After leaving the project alone for about 2 days I suddenly have a problem with my templates: Live view shows code instead of the live view ... The code is all black, so not coloured like in code view. When I preview the page in a browser it shows perfectly fine. I tried to go several versions back - up to versions of about a month ago - didn't help. Also the DOM panel doesn't work in the template files.Maybe it is related: I have another problem as well. I seem not to be able to select things in documents based on the templates. I can select them, but the selections are grey instead of blue (in the editable areas).Any idea what the problem could be?
