auto resize area text box in illustrator

I’d like to request an update to how Area Type behaves specifically in Illustrator. The current default sizing for text boxes often slows down workflow, especially when adjusting layouts or cleaning up designs. It would be a huge time‑saver if Illustrator’s Area Type could auto‑size to fit the text by default.

Alternatively, having a simple shortcut like in Indesign (command+option+C)—something like an instant “shrink to fit text” command—would make a big difference. Constantly dragging handles to resize type boxes is tedious, and a quick action would really streamline everyday work.

I think you incorrectly posted this in the Stock buyers forum.  Please repost Illustrator questions in the Illustrator forum where the product experts there will see it.
