My feature idea is to shut down Firefly and move those resources over to resuscitating and modernizing Animate.

Basically, I don’t think Firefly is creatively enabling so much as it is an affront to craft, a threat to creators, and a creative dead end. And it’s apparently sucking up enough resources to kill other apps that are more important to me, like Animate. What would a world look like with a modernized, beast-mode Adobe Animate bringing imaginative and full-featured character animation capabilities to the masses? Instead, we’re getting funneled into a system of dependency on wishy-washy algorithmic lamp-rubbing.

I’m personally switching to Toon Boom Harmony and will end my subscription with Adobe as soon as my assets are moved. I’ll be finding a Photoshop alternative as well, as it hasn’t been keeping up with competitors. Adobe, move your resources toward the software we subscribed for or you may not be around in 5 years’ time.

There’s a real opportunity here to produce a solid and more affordable animation alternative.  All that’s missing is a company to recognize that and they’d have an incredibly loyal fanbase.  I think something that companies miss is understanding demand.  Sometimes the lack of demand actually points to a lack of what is being offered to consumers.  When generative AI is constantly being shoved in the faces of consumers and essentially force fed via nearly every platform, that’s not demand, it’s a state zero alternatives.  Create solid software and word among creatives will quickly spread -- BOOM; instant demand.
