Real alpha channel transparency in AI generated images

1. For Video Generation (True Alpha via Dual-Files)

When using the Firefly Video Model with the "Transparent background" option enabled under Advanced settings, Adobe does provide a true alpha channel, but it packages it uniquely. [1, 2]

Instead of embedding the transparency directly into a single massive video container (like a ProRes 4444 file), Firefly downloads a ZIP archive containing two separate files: [1]

• Foreground Video: The main color asset containing your subject with the background visually removed.
• Alpha Video: A true, dedicated grayscale alpha channel map (where white is opaque and black is transparent). [1]

How to use it: You must import both files into a video editor like Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects, place the Alpha video layer directly above the Foreground video, and apply a Track Matte Key (set to Luma Matte) to instantly achieve flawless, unkeyed transparency. [1, 2]

2. For Image Generation (Standard Transparent PNG)

If you are generating or editing still images (e.g., using Text-to-Image or the Firefly Background Remover Tool), Firefly outputs a standard transparent PNG file. [1]

• While PNGs inherently use an RGBA alpha channel structure to render transparency on the web or in graphics apps, they do not save the data as a separate, isolated selection channel inside the file structure in the way a native PSD or TIFF workflow does.
