Liquify, warp and other important effects still 16 BIT!

And Adobe boasts about native ACES support.

This is quite funny really:)

32 bit workflow is becoming the standard. Everytime you add a effect that don't support 32bit, there is a risk of causing problems for the footage your are working on without you noticing it, before the footage is send to grading.

After Effect is a swiss army knife that people has been using the last 30 years+, so when you remove alot of function going to 32bit, all of your know how is halted.

Any update for bringing these effects to 32bpc? Been trying to do Anamorfake effects for nearly a year now and have been forced to use Nuke Indie to export the AE comp to in order to add the Lens Distortion, when I'd rather do it straight in AE using the Bezier Warp.

We really, REALLY need these FX updated to 32-bit Adobe.

Hi John please are there any updates on this? I've finally realised this is what has been causing me issues and I often need to use distortion effects on client projects but can't till they're updated for 32bpc support. Mainly liquify, mesh warp and motion tile. Thanks

Second this notion. It'd be great if we could get Liquify updated to 32bpc as soon as possible. I have a project now, an active VFX shot right now, that has values in plate that unfortunately need the 32bpc range. As soon as Liquify is used and limting it to 16bpc, the shot breaks.

Hi. Sorry for the tone. Seldom posts like these are answered by technical staff.

I think it's safe to say that most folks use 32bit nowadays.

I do all my renders in ACESCG and therefore 32 bit is crucial.

Several effects could use 32 bit support:

- liquify

- bezier warp

- warp

(all warp effects to be honest)

- motion tile

These are the ones I used recently and painfully felt the lack of 32 bit support.

I'll update the list when I find more.

I would very much welcome broader 32 bit support, and I'm sure most of VFX and 3D compers out there would 'yay' this request.

Thanks

Hi @pikok85,

Thank you for this request. Are Liquify and Warp the effects you'd find most useful if they were ported to 32bpc? Please tell us more about why you would like to see those particular effects (or any others) support 32bpc.

Cheers,

- John, After Effects Engineering Team
