Add Photoshop’s Match Font Engine in After Effects

  1. The user selects or imports a screenshot containing text.
  2. The panel analyzes the letterforms in the image.
  3. It searches for visually similar fonts.
  4. It displays the closest matches and allows the user to apply or activate the selected font in After Effects.

Its Match font, but in after effects.

    This is a great idea, but I think we already have something better that is soon to be in the release version of After Effects and is available now in the public beta.

    If you have After Effects (Beta) installed, import an image with type that you’d like to identify, add it to a Composition, draw a Rectangular Mask around it to isolate it, and then ask the Assistant “Match the font shown in the visible area of the selected Layer.”  It should find the similar font and offer to create a new text layer that uses it.
