What if under effects there's a draggable parameter that auto removes background with precision? We see the tech being used alot in virtual calls, for example in Teams, Google meet or Instagram and Facebook filters replacing background with virtual backgrounds and they can do that real time while on call.

Rotobrush already exist yes but it's too bulky and inefficient. These background remover effects are way lighter and quicker to use.

Is that possible?

Unscreen makes their automatic background removal tool available as an After Effects plug-in, but I have not had a chance to try it.

The AI products that seem to automatically remove backgrounds do not do a good enough job to even come close to being called a professional approach to the problem.

High-Quality subject selection depends on lighting, edge detail, contrast with the background, the amount of motion blur, and a bunch of other things. Rotobtush does an amazing job if the footage is properly shot. The latest tools available in DaVinci Resolve seem to work a little better, but AE was better before the last release. It's an ongoing battle.

If you want to remove a background you have to plan and execute the shot with that in mind. If you do not do that you risk everything from complete failure to many hours per second of film to rotoscope by hand.
