Bug Report: Immersive Environment Projection Options

In Version 18, they removed the "VR Goggles" from the Composition Window which is where we would change the projection for the Adobe Immersive Enviroment so that the footage would be properly displayed inside of a VR Headset. You didn't give us another place to change this settings so any versions of AE past 17.7.0 are unusable for 360 VR workflows. Can we get our button back? #Adobe_UX_QC_Fail

Voicing my bewilderment at this loss of functionality also.  We can also no longer install the previous version of AE2020 to access this function and Adobe support are unwilling to provide the installer for AE2020.  This creates a huge issue for creators working in the VR/360 video space.  For some of us its not that easy to just drop Adobe and move to Fusion as we work in larger teams but being unable to do a part of our jobs is a real issue!

Dear Adobe, since apparently you guys are reading this new community forums,

just bumping this up.

Can we get a clear answer to this?

Some Adobe eplyees have stated that this feature is dead and not coming back.

Some later appologized, said that this should not be dead and they will file this as a bug.

In the meantime the feature is still stated and shown in the AE manual, so seriously, what is going on with this???

everyone: "This is essential... removing the feature is just ridiculous..."

adobe: "this is so us! but we have a new mobile app that nobody in the industry wants!"

maybe this is the last straw to leave adobe for good... i am fed up...

Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem yet? I'm thinking I'll probably just switch to Fusion. (Unless anyone has a better alternative?) This sucks because I really didn't want to have to learn a new software since I just spent a lot of time learning After Effects and now I can't use it for what I was going to use it for. The info on their website is wrong. I thought Adobe was more reliable than this and I'm irritated that I spent money on this and it doesn't work the way they said. Honestly I'm considering filing a lawsuit because this is false advertising; the website said it would work and that's part of why I bought the software. Ridiculous. Whoever made the decision to cripple the VR workflow should be fired.

Wow the fact that they removed the Immersive Environment and knew that it wasn't coming back (since it wasn't going to be an easy fix and wasn't on any roadmaps) and didn't tell anyone is kinda rude tbh.

It's sad (and quite baffling) that Adobe has chosen to remove these features right when the VR industry is taking off (regardless of any reasons they give). My company has been using Adobe editing products for years, and now we unfortunately have to move to another platform to continue a proper workflow.

Well folks, here's your answer. Adobe people don't respond here apparently, so after finding them elsewhere these were the responses. I've removed identifying information as these were their personal channels and not official Adobe ones. Be nice, but the bad news is we are (probably) left out to dry, would have LOVED to have known this a YEAR ago....

I have been creating 360 content in After Effects since 2017 and I loved using Skybox 360 player and Rift to edit in the Headset. I was thrilled when it was made part of the software instead of a plugin. Now I have to work blindly because this functionality has been removed in the recents versions that are available to install. I would reinstall a AE 2017, but I am not able to now. Adobe will only let me install versions back to 2020. Adobe PLEASE put this VR editing feature back. I need to be able to edit in the headset from AE. The dynamic link workaround from AE to Premiere Pro is a huge struggle with lots of instability. The immersive preview on HMD worked beautifully before. You removed this function it at a time when the Headset Displays (Oculus Quest in my case) were finally more affordable, no sensors to deal with, and much less tethered. As an artist, realtime VR creating/editing in headset is extremely helpful and efficient. At least please explain to us why this function has been removed. If there is something better in the works it would be terrifc to know, and if it is never going to be supported in AE again that's important to know as well. The lack of communication about the future of the functionality is what is so disappointing and the fact that there are no suitable workarounds. I have been using AE since ~1993 when it was still CoSA. I am so disappointed by this. Please help us with this issue. Thank you and please forward this issue to Victoria Nece, Senior Product Manager, Motion Graphics and Visual Effects at Adobe if possible.
