Change fonts, and character properties in After Effects Motion Graphics Templates MOGRTs

Currently, MOGRTs made in After Effects miss the option to change font when they are used in Premiere. Additionally they are also missing the more detailed options of character properties:

While we're at it, lets also have paragraph properties added:

This feature has been requested since 2017. This is desperately needed. Please update this as soon as possible.

Reread my comment. This is a Slider Control (Effects > Expression Controls).
I simply renamed it in my screenshot.

Thanks Kyle, I was half way there as I had that expression but there is no Vertical Line Spacing in the Effects so I get an error. How do I add that parameter to Effects? Apologies, very green here, just finding my feet if it's an easy fix!

@Ifihadahifi you can add "Line Spacing" as a property under the text animator.

Interestingly, this property is one that can't be passed directly into the Essential Graphics Panel, but you can create and link to a Slider Control (Under "Expression Controls"). Line Spacing gives control over both X and Y values (so you could use this for horizontal offset as well), so if you want to limit it to only Y, a quick expression - as seen below - will enable that.

The slider control can be added directly to the EGP, meaning the end user of the Mogrt will be able to edit it.

Note that this value will *add to* the leading value already established in the Text panel, so you'll either want to set that panel value to something intential, or set it to zero, making your slider value the ENTIRE line spacing amount.

Would you be able to expand on adding additional character properties with a text animator? My MGRT needs a leading value added but I can't find that to add to the EGP area.

Hi @Kyle Hamrick

I somehow missed this. Thanks a lot.

Cheers

While you don't have access to the full character/paragraph panels, you can indeed make several of these properties available if the Mogrt is properly prepared.

When creating the Mogrt in AE, clicking "Edit Properties" next to a Source Text added to the Essential Graphics Panel lets you enable any or all of these, which will be visible in the same way in Premiere:

Many (but no, not all) of the remaining Character Panel options can be made available by using a Text Animator and feeding those controls to the EGP.
