Disk cache fills up, but could it auto-delete oldest cache so we don't have to keep purging cache

For years I've been constantly feeling AE come to a stop, previews cease up and I know from experience that I need to go Purge>All Memory and disk cache.

Could AE not be more proactive here and monitor the cache, and ideally delete on-the-fly in the order of oldest?
