fill opacity

why does the opacity parameter of the fill effect affects the opacity of the entire layer? this does not make sense at all! 

please fix this.

Hi @kitchhock,

Thanks for making this request. It does appear that the Opacity control in the Fill effect is primarily intended for use with Masks selected, as alluded to by Mylenium.

 

Along with Rick's suggestion below, you can also adjust the Effect Opacity in Fill's Compositing Options group in the Timeline to affect only the opacity of the Fill and not the entire layer's opacity.

There is nothing to fix.

The fill changes all four color values. R,G,B, and A. The opacity slider in the Effects Control Panel does not offer the option of changing individual channels. 

 

If you want to modify the opacity of the fill color so that the original color of the layer can come through, add CC Composite and Change Composite Original to Add Alpha. When the opacity of CC Composite is set to 100%, the original colors will be visible. When set to 0%, the fill color will be applied.

You see how it works when selecting masks. Nothing wrong with the way it is.
