How great would it be if we can Lock / Hide items in Project Panel!

To avoid accidental change of template Comps, or just to clean up clutter in projects that need to be used by others for versioning.

@Jaydude-wb

I don't have a problem with the idea of locking items in the Project panel other than I think it adds an extra step to the workflow haveing to lock and then unlock a comp (for example) when the AD calls for last minute changes.

When it comes to hidden layers, I would suggest that hidden layers serve many very practical purposes.

Hidden layers also still appear in the Timeline which means you can still know they are there and remember to unhide them.

The downside is the time it takes to develop what to me sounds like a very niche feature.

I guess my questions is how much more useful would this ability to lock and/or hide Project panel items be over just placing them in a folder marked "done" or "template". Do you often accidentaly edit items you don't want to? Or is the project panel that untidy?

Let me lock folders too! It feels safe and gives an extra way to organize large projects - it give an item kind of a status - either 'Done' or 'Don't touch' or 'Template' or whatever you can think about.

People forget about Hidden layers all the time. Is that a reason to remove that feature?

What is the downside of the ability to lock precious project items?

My initial thought was isn't that what folders are for?

How would you deal with the fact people would forget that things are hidden? Maybe a indicator for hidden items?
