New key frame appearance is really bad

The new larger key frames with borders are really bad. Previous I could easily grab and move them and see the separation on the timeline. Now they just appear to overlap. Even grabbing them seems next to impossoble compared to before.

Please consider adding an option to use previous keyframe format/appearence.

Hi @Heathenlamb ,

Thanks for filing this suggestion.

The new keyframe highlight is a necessary change to accommodate the new ability apply label colors to keyframes. (Added to After Effects 22.6 in August 2022.) Without changing the appearance of the keyframe highlight, there would be no way to distinguish a selected keyframe from a keyframe with a blue highlight.

The new highlight is meant to be unobtrusive. That said, we have noticed that when display scaling is enabled, and especially on Windows, the width of the highlight gets thicker than we intended. This issue is under review by our design team.

If your concern is broader than that, please post more detail, including screenshots or screen recordings. The old keyframe highlight is unlikely to see a return due to the conflict it has with keyframe color labels, but perhaps with better understanding of how it is interrupting your workflow we could find other modifications to improve the behavior of the highlights.
