Nulls stay transparent in Solids folder

When you do Layer > New > Null Object it comes into your comp as Transparent. But when you open a new comp and want to use the same null dragging it in from the SOLIDS folder, it’s now opaque. I can’t imagine anyone using a 100x100 Null Object as an actual solid. Can you make it so that all Null objects always stay transparent (even in the solids folder) as if you created a new one? 🙏

I recommend making a new Null each time that you need it.

I’m assuming than since the OP put this in feature requests they would like to not have to do that anymore.

A Null is just a Solid with the Opacity set to 0%.

There’s no Opacity property in in the Project panel, but it makes sense that any Solid with “Null” in the name could default to 0% Opacity when added to a Comp.

Sort of, but nulls created in a comp stay invisible even if you set their Opacity to 100% (which has its merits – for instance, using the null’s Opacity to drive the Opacity of its children). It’s only when the null is dragged in from the Solids folder that it becomes visible.
