Open-EXR 16-bit HALF-float rendering – Adobe After Effects UI/UX Export Issue

Feature request please!

Firstly, for people dropping by on this post, please see this post which ex[;ains a useful bit of info about AFX & EXRS
https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/no-16-bit-exr/m-p/10407820

So my feature request is that we can work in 16bpc in AFX and export 16bit exrs in trillions of colours.  The current workflow is working in 16bpc and having to export in floating point, and then receiving the error that the export has a higher colour depth.

Thanks to @Chris Zwar for clearing a few things up.

If AFX is still saving out a half-float file when using floating point, the user has no way of knowing this, so this becomes a UI/UX issue.

My suggestion would be that it defaults to floating point as the export as it does, but there is then a half float checkbox, which is then on by default.   This should then give the user more clarity about what is happening and matches the Cinema4D export for familiarity.

Then I think the error message needs to be clarified to be less of an error, and more of an info dialogue to inform the user that, AFX uses 16bpc integers, and that EXR requires a float value, which is why it needs to export as floating point. The export dialogue should then provide a checkbox on that error to not show it again. With the option in afx prefs to re-enable it if desired.

If however, a user is in 16bpc and tries to export the EXR as floating point, but then unchecks the half-float checkbox, this is where the current error message should appear, as it is then more relevant.
