Photoshop Clipping Mask Not Working in After Effects?
Hi Adobe Team,
When importing layered PSD files into After Effects, I've noticed that Photoshop clipping masks are not preserved. Instead, the clipped layers come in as normal layers without their clipped behavior.
Currently, the workaround is to manually recreate the clipping mask using the Alpha Matte system, placing the clipping mask layer below and setting the top layer to Alpha Matte. While this works, it becomes time-consuming when working with complex PSDs that contain many clipping masks, as we need to manually adjust every pair.
Feature Suggestion:
It would be extremely helpful if clipping masks in Photoshop could be automatically translated into Alpha Mattes or pre-set matte relationships in After Effects upon import, especially when importing as Composition (Retain Layer Sizes).
This would greatly improve workflow for motion designers and editors who rely heavily on Photoshop-to-AE integration.
Thanks for considering, and I hope this could be improved in a future update!
