Point Gradient Text Fill

Premiere Pro can change a text layer's fill between Solid, Linear, and Radial Gradients. Why not add this to After Effects? A simple drop-down, like so, would suffice:

Why not even add an option to switch between a point and parametric mode? Maybe you want some green on the top, a darker yellow on the bottom, and some red on the side. This would work similarly to the 4-color gradient effect, but with infinite colors and points!
