the whole distort family effects would need some love, but the mesh warp could be a super powerful tool if could :
-have access to every points and tangeants positions
-lasso select points
-scale, shear, rotate the grid to affect only a part of the image
-making it 3d
-promote it to b 32bpc gpu accelerated
-go beyond those request and make it a weapon of choice

to my knowledge this effect has been change only once to be able to move points with arrow keys...

It would be nice to get an update on Mesh Warp. However, here's a trick I use to 'track' my Mesh Warp effect.

  1. Mocha track your Corner Pin effect and apply it
  2. Add the Mesh Warp effect and place it before the Corner Pin in the effects stack
  3. Set the Mesh Warp grid to 2x2
  4. Adjust the Mesh Warp tangents

While the Mesh Warp's overlays (tangents) in your Composition Window won't be aligned with the corners of the Corner Pin, it allows you to create a more rounded Corner Pin.

Mesh Warp is powerful, but the dated UI makes it so painful to use. Sigh
We can only hope for a update

Simply being able to shift-drag points (to constrain them to a vertical/horizontal move, just like almost every other dragging action in all Adobe apps) would be a lovely start!

...edit. Like this one, mentioned above in the thread! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Yzv6pj9gM

Please Adobe, make the Meshwarp work like this one. This looks SO much better than the crap, fiddly effect we have in AE.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Mesh Warp. It really feels like a beta version of the tool. So much potential but almost impossible to practically use. In addition to your suggestions, I would like there to be an "Auto" switch for the tangents, so they automatically move to maintain relative average distance to the next point. Years of my life wasted moving points close to each other and then endlessly fiddling with the finicky tangent handles to move them back between the points.

And import/support for 3d camera track or mocha!
Improve the corner pin controls too, its a shame! Looks like a draft tool sometimes!

This definitely needs some attention. It's SO fiddly to use.

Please give us the easy ability to attach the grid to footage too, and/or points of the grid to tracked nulls. It would make it so much more usable.

I agree as well. Being able to fully manipulate all points, lassoing multiple points, and resizing the grid to only affect a portion of the image are all things the grid warps in Nuke and Fusion/resolve have had for years. Nuke even has the ability to add rows and columns outside of the initial grid setup. At a minimum people should be able to move multiple points at once.

Mesh warp absolutely need a revamp. access to points can make it work with motion tracking data the same way as new Nuke grid warp tracker, using a start pose.
