AE is hopeless and locating missing things with unhelpful warnings that a single file is missing. In resolve for example you can select all the sources, missing or otherwise, and ask the program to search for them in a location.

 

1) the warning should list the missing files by name or in the case of effects list the comp they're in.

 

2) it should be much easier to re-link files as per the resolve examples.

In After Effects, if we replace the first item in the Project tab list, any other items in the same file path should relink.  We can also filter the list for "Missing" if having any trouble locating the source footage.
