Timeline layer outpoint snap option

Currently when you hold down shift to snap the playhead in the timeline, it snaps to the last frame of the layer (see image)

On most occasions when I do this, I want the playhead to be at the very end of the layer, not on the last frame. For instance, if you snapped to the last frame, then used the [ key to align another layer to the playhead, you'd end up with a one-frame overlap. It's a small thing, but a minor annoyance that adds up to many extra button presses when using the software.

I would like a preferences menu option to enable snapping to the very end of the layer, not the last frame.

I'm not asking for the default behavior to be changed, but as someone who uses AE for motion graphics and rarely vfx or compositing, I could see how my habits of interacting with the software could be funneling me into a place of being annoyed with a particular small repetitive task.

Ctrl/Cmnd + Right Arrow will move one frame. 

 

Visual effects and compositing apps stop the CTI at the start of the frame so you can see what is happening at that time. This makes lining things up more efficient. Video Editing Software (Avid, Premiere Pro, Davinci) makes cuts at the CTI, so the frame you are looking at disappears. It has been that way since we started manipulating video with a computer. I would not like to have the behavior changed, but maybe a shortcut and a change in the cutting protocol would help some users some of the time. I want to see the last frame of a layer when I snap to the out-point.
