When will audio editing stop being terrible in After Effects?

I have one of the fastest possible computers, video renders nearly instantly, yet the audio sounds like it's being played back on a vintage 1940s turntable, slowing down and speeding up, even as render bar shows full green.
This is not like... a new issue. It's been the same since I started using After Effects about 20 years ago.
I really was hoping at some point this would get solved.
I really need audio to be played back correctly, when creating animations for music videos. It sucks to have a pipeline where I have to port everything over to Premiere, or create visual markers to know where my edits should go, or have to RENDER OUT SECTIONS and play them in a standalone player like Quicktime to preview what the audio actually sounds like in my composition.
Please. Fix. This.

Looking at it more closely - I think what's happening is that the bar is green where the track is currently playing but still rendering at the end of the sequence or region of interest.  Any time it's still rendering while also playing back, even if the playback area is fully green for a minute of straight content ahead of playback position, the fact that it's still trying to render "in the future" while playing back, causes the audio to slowdown and speedup.
The issue goes away if I select a shorter region of interest let it all render first, then playback.
I will record this experience for you - and upload it, if it's helpful for diagnostics.  Just gotta survive this week of shows first 🙂
Love Adobe in general, been using the software for 20 years.  But in our industry (music videos / tightly synced audio / VJ content to music), pretty much everyone avoids After Effects for audio editing - while it got a little better over the years, it can still be a bit frustrating.

You're totally correct that a render bar showing full green should give you correct audio playback. Would you be able to send us a project where you're seeing this? Perhaps just as important would be a screen recording of the issue happening. Please let us know!
