P: Support for Canon .CR3 Camera-matching Profiles

There is currently zero support for .CR3 camera color profiles in Lightroom... especially since the newer Canon cameras use a .CR3 format... making it difficult to get work done. Only slightly surprised that this wasnt planned for beforehand since there still isnt a 64bit version of the adobe programs that i can use on the most current version of MacOS.

It is not unusual for raw support to be released in advance of camera matching profile support.  We cannot give an ETA for when or even if the profiles will be available for any particular camera.

Adobe says that Canon changed the file format, so they can't simply adapt the profiles from those of other Canon cameras.

Some people say they are having luck by converting to DNG and using Canon profiles that way. This may be helpful for individual images, but not for full shoots (nless you have too much time on your hands).

After the update Lightroom classic support an EOS RP Raw file but I found that the camera matching profile for the camera is missing. Is it going to be add after the next update?

You're very welcome. The those Adobe forums are a bit impossible to find anything at the moment since they switching software. I only spotted it as I track Eric's posts by email.

Victoria, thank you!  I had a feeling it was something along one of those lines, but strangely I found nothing when doing a search using several different terms.  "camera matching profiles" was one of them.  Obviously I missed it in some way.  thanks again

Is that one of the new cameras with CR3 files? If so, see Eric Chan's (Camera Raw Engineer) comments here:  https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2650451
At present we cannot build the Camera Matching profiles due to recent file format changes.  We are working with Canon to resolve this, but it will take time.  Thanks for your patience.

I've searched around but can't find anything regarding the camera matching profiles for this camera body for Lightroom Classic.  The file is supported, but there are only Adobe Profiles and no "matching" profiles.

Does anyone know if they exists and where I can find them if they do?

Thanks

Sorry Rikk, i don't believe you anymore. New release 8.4 (11.4). Two more new Canon cameras without Camera Matching profiles. G5 X II and G7 X III. Now the 5 latest Canon cameras are missing these profiles. The SX70 HS was released last year. And not even an official notice from Adobe. These profiles always used to come together with the Adobe profiles in the same release when a camera was first supported. Before I could buy a new released Canon camera and trust that Adobe released Camera Matching profiles for it very soon after. Something has changed. It is not like that anymore. No more trust. Seems I have to find something else very soon.

This thread has confused me.  In my work flow, there are "profile" selections like Adobe Color, Adobe Landscape, ..., that affect color, contrast, and suchlike.  Then there are "lens" profiles that seem to be restricted to Profile Corrections and Chromatic Aberration.  Third there are "Camera Raw Defaults" -- are these camera-dependent?  Do "profile" selections include ones for specific cameras, and if so how do I see if there are choices for a Nikon D850?
