P: x64 support for DNG codec

I'd love to have an Adobe supplied codec for x64 Windows that lets me look at DNGs in Explorer. Having to pay a third party for what is supposed to be the new open image standard seems wrong to me.

Yup. That's the best way to interact with the Acrobat team.

Would like the same thing for .pdf files. Is there a forum for requesting that?

Yes, this has already made my life so much easier.

Now if Canon could just retrofit some 5D 64 Bit drivers....

Thanks for the information, Tom!

I was surprised that many companies (besides Olympus, I think) never released a 64bits version of their codec, and wondered if there were any technical issues in providing it.

An update to the DNG Codec has been posted on Adobe Labs:

Yes. For all I know it may even work under W7 / x64 - the installer prevents one testing. IOW, it could be a quick win.

I assume the codec on Labs is the latest one provided by Adobe? Doesn't appear to have been updated in at least two years and only supports Vista (though it can be made to work on XP). A refresh to support Windows 7 and x64 systems is well overdue.

It would be good to have an official statement on this. The provision of a codec would help encourage use of the DNG format (if only a little).
