Automatic Reset on Rewind before Playback

Using Physics and Magnets, when I go to do the performance, at the end of the performance, Character Animator stops and leaves the character in the final position. When I rewind, not all items are reset to neutral/default. Consequently, if you then play back again... everything is shifted starting from a new neutral.

Ideally there should be an option to either keyframe the "reset" OR a way to keyframe ALL items in the initial frame (or maybe frame (-1.0) )

Anything so we don't have to every time remember to click "reset"

Note - this is particularly bad when exporting to media encoder. A Playback should be identical and consistent between recordings if nothing has changed.

Ahh that’s true. We need a frame action to reset physics to a specific state on record. Click record and the animation does a run-up from the reference frame.

I guess it is what it is for now - but for recording takes I think it’d be really good to have that pre-role from the reference...

thanks for the replies.

Yeah, that's the workaround for recording a new performance. Note that even that isn't perfect because there can be a different amount of time between when you hit Reset and when you hit Record — during which time something could be falling or jiggling etc.

Will try the AE/PPro.

Even if export is consistent - the problem is that while performing, you have to rewind and reset before each take!

Or is there a workaround for that too!

Agreed, this is confusing.

Note that export is not affected (i.e. will always be consistent). Same for dynamic link to AE/PPro. So you can use that as a workaround when doing a physics-based scene: drop it into AE or PPro and play it back from there. It will always be the same, and always match what you'll export.
