Make PDFs editable with InDesign

Here is a suggestion for future updates of InDesign. Make it possible to open and edit PDFs with InDesign. That would sure save a lot of headaches and frustration. I know you can save them as Word docs and edit them there, but Word is Word, if you know what I mean. And editing in Acrobat is anything but a user-friendly experience. I realize there are third-party apps, but it seems logical to have this feature available with InDesign.

@ScottVC

Most PDFs can be opened and edited with Adobe Illustrator, although Adobe only recommends it for PDFs created from Illustrator. I've also had good luck opening a PDF in Illustrator and copying out individual assets.

Illustrator and PDFs are based on PostScript. InDesign is not, so it is unlikely to be feasible to edit a PDF inside of InDesign.

Adobe does not own PDF. They gave it to an ISO (International Standards Organization) in 2008, so any changes to PDF would have to go through the ISO.

Your post is in Ideas, so it will be read by Adobe.
