Third-party authenticator apps

Right now, Adobe only offers the option to use Adobe Account Access for app-based MFA.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I want to keep my logins under one MFA app as much as possible. Adobe should allow users to connect their accounts to third-party authenticator apps like Duo Mobile, Authy, LastPass Authenticator, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.

It appears your reading comprehension is lacking, too. The point is that Adobe has had numerous breaches in the past. People want to use TOTP, just not the kludgy and implementation you authored.

@Tarun Saini

i never registered that (push notifications to wearables), but it is something i appreciate and utilize frequently (because i seem to need authorization when using mobile in the forums.

i rescind my criticism.  thanks adobe.

Every convenience feature you've just mentioned, I already have with 3rd-party TOTP applications. On AOSP 14, all they require is BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE access (no need for any Adobe API).

I have no desire to induce animosity into this thread. However, regardless of how much you protest otherwise, "enhanced experience" is the kind of uselessly vague, corporate phrasal that appears utterly disingenuous.

Hi @AMadCow,

Adobe Account Access uses the same industry-standard TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) technology for multi-factor authentication as other popular authentication apps. What sets us apart is our enhanced user experience—we deliver instant push notifications directly to your device and compatible wearables, making authentication faster and more convenient than manually entering codes.

Behind the scenes, we still generate and exchange TOTP codes with our servers through secure back-channel communication, ensuring the same robust security level as traditional TOTP implementations.We appreciate the feedback about bringing back the option to view and manually copy TOTP codes, which was previously available. We recognize that many users manage multiple MFA-enabled accounts and prefer consolidating all their authentication factors in a single app, even if it means sacrificing some convenience features.

Your suggestion is valuable input that we'll carefully consider for future updates. Security remains our top priority and Adobe Account Access has a clean security record. We continuously monitor threats and enhance our security measures to ensure your account protection stays ahead of evolving risks.

Regards,

Tarun

good point (imo) @AMadCow, but adobe seems to think otherwise.

BUMPING this. It's 2025, why wouldn't you want to offload the responsibility for security to a 3rd party app that specializes in security. Especially given the past lapses by Adobe. You don't do security, stick to what you know and let the users choose this.

Adobe had this feature at 1 point.  My personal account has 3rd part mfa.  But we're trying to set up a business account but can no longer use 3rd party apps.  Really inconvenient since we use a password manager with mfa capabilities so now we can't use mfa.  Completely pointless to remove this feature.

This is really dumb... No one wants to install your stupid, bloated authenticator app that can be used only for Adobe accounts and that sends God-knows-what information back to Adobe's servers. Please re-enable access to the industry standard TOTP option. When a perfectly secure, industry standard option is available, yet you decide to roll your own implementation, despite not specializing in security and having a very long history of major security vulnerabilities and breaches, it just screams of some dumb mandate dictated by someone at the top that has no clue about security or best practices.

@EpyGod

i can (and did) remove the duplicate, but can't influence (any more than you) the suggestion here.
