P: Allow Named People thumbnail photo to be changed

The new facial recognition in Lightroom 6/CC is well done (if sometimes amusingly quirky). One change I'd like to suggest is allowing the Named People thumbnail photo to be chosen from the list of confirmed thumbnails. Lr sometimes picks an unflattering image or one of very low quality. When I see a list of faces in the Named People list I want to see nice looking mugshots. We don't all shoot fashion models!

Here we are in Feb of 2023 and this is still an outstanding issue.  To add insult to injury, I'm certain I remember this being a feature in Elements.  Please let me choose the images for people.

It blows my mind that this hasn't been implemented already. In fact the whole "People" section could do with an overhaul.

Disappointed that this feature isn't available in Classic, seems fairly fundamental.

Please add the ability to choose your own thumbnail for People in Lightroom.

"How do I do this?"

In LR Classic (the original, folders-based LR), you can't.

In the LR cloud versions (mobile, web, desktop) I don't know if you can -- you'll have to post to the LR cloud forum:

If you don't know which app you're running, do Help > System Info and look at the first line.

How do I do this?

When you mark a person in a photo, Lightroom itself chooses (apparently at random) the photo to display on the "cover". Do you know if you can somehow select this photo yourself? Ligthroom always chooses the most nightmarish and atypical one ))

Select, displaying here, as in the attached screenshot.

Not a Face Rec user, but

So you are looking at a stack of images with the same name (face), Probably like any stack, you can expand the stack, select the image you want shown, and select that image as on top.

link below on stacking, not nessecarily correct foe Face stacking:

In the old days, I could use Google Photos to people tag all my photos, so it's nice that Lightroom Classic has such a feature. What it seems to lack is a way to choose which thumbnail will be the default one in the Named People window.  Is there a way of doing this (other than picking a good pic first)?

Unfortunately, no way of doing this, though it's been a long-term, medium-popular feature request:

This is a still sorely needed feature, and should be so easy!!

It's now 2022... please add this feature Adobe!!

This is such a sorely needed and yet simple feature. Lightroom Classic CC seems to take the oldest photo in the face set. Makes no sense at all when you have photos spanning 10-15 or more years. Please let us choose a "main image" for the saved face!! It's 2020 already.
