[Update: Color labels for folders were added in LR 7.4 --John Ellis]

I find it difficult to navigate folders and collections in the LH panel. To some extent this is because I (unwisely) chose to use similar naming conventions. If it were possible to allow users to "Colour code" folders and collections it would make navigation much easier and also give me another way of "cataloging" photos. My suggestion would be a small colour indicator, rather like the online/offline indicator but round instead of oblong.

There's more than one way to make folder navigation and filtering easy.  7.2 adds a filter box in folders, and a new context menu Mark as Favorite.

And if it cannot be done in Windows, then make it work within the Lightroom application as an attribute of the folder in the catalog.  Please do not give Adobe an easy escape from this much wanted idea...

A large group of us have been requesting, no...make that "begging" for color coding in Folders and Collections so we can easily locate headings such as Family, Travel, Portfolio et. We can use Label colors for rating our photos. Why can't we also be able to do this in the panel on the left? We've been requesting this for approximately seven years.. With all the competition Adobe now has from other editing systems we would think that you would honor our request to prevent us from leaving.

Photo Mechanic has provided color coding for probably 10 years or more. The fact that Adobe can't or won't add this feature after years of people asking for it is so disappointing. The fact that there are other ways to organize work, such as by collections and metadata, should not carry the day; many people organize by folders and a program like this should be able to accommodate more than one approach to organization.  Come on Adobe!

same request, this Feature would be really helpful, I just chatted about it with Axel Matt, he does not seem to know that this request is pending for so Long and not yet picked up by Adobe. Would be really nice to get it on, to simplify large structures of Folders. Please add this in.

I would also love this feature added into Lightroom - in the Library module, just being able to code the folders 3 colours would be useful - just to keep track of what I have already completed and what I am still working on (as I can have a few open projects at any one time). Please add this in.

Every so often I call Adobe to ask for technical advice dealing with Lightroom.  At the end of the call I always mention this issue.  Their reply is that they will make note of it and advise their software developers.  And with this, the days, months, and years go on with still no change.
